Monart, Prairie Center host exhibit

Arlington Heights' Monart Drawing Studio and Prairie Center for the Arts will host an opening reception for Monart's new art exhibit from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the center, 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg. The exhibit will feature more than 80 works through May. Call (847) 788-9323.

Journeys PADS to hold 5K Run/Walk

Journeys from PADS to HOPE will host a 5K Fun Run/Walk Thursday, to benefit the homeless in Northwest Suburban Cook County. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at All Saints Lutheran Church, 630 S. Quentin Road, Palatine. The Fun Run starts at 9 a.m. followed by the 5K Run at 9:15 a.m. Awards lunch follows the race with prizes for overall male and female winners, age groups and largest group/organization. Streamwood police to patrol Route 59

The Streamwood police department will join other departments in patrolling the Route 59 corridor from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9 in a traffic safety campaign. Officers will target traffic violations such as speeding, running red lights, seat belt violations and improper lane usage. The intersection at routes 59 and 19 has been the number one source of accidents within the Streamwood jurisdiction for the last six years, with an average of 57 accidents per year. A motorist and pedestrian were killed on Route 59 in 2007.
