Kaneland completes sweep of Batavia

Kaneland's baseball team picked up where they left off in a suspended game against Western Sun Conference rival Batavia and came back to beat the Bulldogs 5-4 at home Saturday, thanks to 3 runs in the seventh inning.

After that game, Kaneland played its scheduled Saturday game against nonconference Oswego East and won, 12-5.

Against Batavia, the Knights completed the series sweep in a game that started Friday and made it into the fourth inning with the Bulldogs leading 3-1.

Brian Claesson and Alex Nornam each tallied 3 hits with Austin Park picking up the win. For Batavia (11-7, 7-5), Mike Sentman had a pair of hits. The Knights improved to 8-4 in the conference.

In Kaneland's outing against Oswego East, Nick Wagner led the way with 3 hits, including a pair of doubles. Norman and Tom Childs also hit home runs. Jeff Smith (2-0) pitched the distance for the Knights (11-5).

St. Charles East wins doubleheader: The Saints topped Lake Park twice, 3-2 in Game 1, and 12-2 in 5 innings in the second game in an Upstate Eight Conference outing in St. Charles.

The Saints' Ryan O'Dell hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh in the first game.

Mike Hoscheit and Dan Leibforth also posted an RBI each for the Saints (7-9, 6-4). Steve Schenck had a pair of hits.

Andy Gruenwald (2-2) earned the win on the mound after he relieved starter Tyler Deetjen, who struck out seven in 6 innings of work.

In Game 2, Leibforth led the way with 3 RBI. Chris Burgess and Schenck also had a pair of RBI. Kyle Wiebe earned the win.

Wheaton Warrenville South defeats West Aurora twice: In DuPage Valley Conference play, the Tigers topped the Blackhawks 7-3 in Game 1 and 19-18 in Game 2.

Chris Richter finished with 6 RBI for the day, followed by Kyle McCradic (3 hits, 3 RBI), Jeff Etter (4 hits, 3 RBI) and Tony Gaffino (2 hits, 2 RBI) for the Blackhawks (12-8, 5-6).

Aurora Christian wins big: The Eagles defeated Chicago Christian in Game 1, 15-4, and 16-2 in Game 2.

Eric Anderson had 3 RBI in Game 1 and Matt Morris posted 2 hits and 3 runs in Game 2.

Neuqua Valley 11-12, Waubonsie Valley 8-1:ŒThe Neuqua Valley Wildcats ran their Upstate Eight Conference win streak to nine on Saturday, beating Waubonsie Valley 11-8 and 12-1 to finish off a three-game series baseball sweep in Aurora.

Chris Kruppe had a single, double and triple and Brian McNabb 2 doubles for Neuqua Valley (16-3, 12-1) in the opener. McNabb had a double and 3 runs batted in, Geoff Rowan 2 doubles and Jason David a solo homer in the second game.
