Kayla Hurd won it.
Warren's softball team needed nine innings but got itself a victory Friday and, as a result, snapped its four-game losing streak.
Warren edged Carmel 1-0 in nonconference action, as Hurd drove in the winning run.
The sophomore was 2-for-4 on the day.
Sam Berrios got the win. She had 7 strikeouts and allowed just 2 walks for Warren, which improves to 12-10 overall.
Huntley 4, Grayslake N. 3: Huntley scored 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past the Knights.
Grayslake North was led by Hillary Kuhl, who went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.
Carly Borders added a double.
Johnsburg 11, Grayslake C. 1: The Rams' lone run was scored on a homer by Abbie Goetsch.
Baseball
Lake Zurich 15, Antioch 4: In a continuation of an April 3 game that was suspended in the top of the third inning, the visiting Bears, who were ahead 10-1 at the time, made their victory official.
Pitcher Joey DeBernardis got the win to improve to 5-2. He pitched the first two innings.
DeBernardis also finished with 2 hits, both homers, and 7 RBI. He had belted a grand slam in the first inning.
Tim Nolan added 2 hits for the Bears and Dan Zummo and Reid Bergstrom each had doubles.
Steve Cleary finished up on the mound, pitching the final three innings for Lake Zurich, which had no errors for the second straight game.
For Antioch, Tom Sears and Logan Kent each had doubles. Kent, Austin Grimm and Jim Fracek each finished with 2 hits.
Vernon Hills 8, Zion-Benton 0: Pitcher Keith Kamman improved to 2-1 by leading the Cougars to the victory.
Vernon Hills got 2 RBI from Brad Schnitzer and Zack Freibrun.
Freibrun also had a double, as did Zack Schwartz.
Carmel 17, New Trier 3 (susp.): Carmel needed just two more outs to close out a big nonconference victory in five innings but the game was suspended due to inclement weather.
Jordan Sivertsen had rolled up 4 hits, including a double, a triple and a home run.
Bobby Lyne also had 4 hits, including a double and a home run.
Meanwhile, Brian Siedlecki and David Venegoni added 3 and 2 hits, respectively for the Corsairs.
Prairie Ridge 7, Grayslake N. 6: A 3-run rally in the bottom of the seventh left Grayslake North just short in its bid for a win.
The Knights (5-8) got 2 hits apiece out of Jordan Field, Tim Elias and Clay Henricksen. Field also had a double.
Boys tennis
Vernon Hills d. Wauconda: Sam Rong won the No. 1 singles match in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) over Wauconda's Cameron Black to lead Vernon Hills to a 3-2 victory.
The Cougars also won two doubles matches.
Wauconda's No. 1 doubles team of Connor Dimick and Eric Christiansen got a straight set (6-4, 6-3) win over Riaz Hoveydai and David Alvaro.
Girls soccer
Carmel 4, Providence 1: Carmel jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead en route to its victory.
The Corsairs got a goal and an assist from both Stephanie Swanson and Kassidy Brown.
Maddie Ogrinc and Liz Perrenot also had goals and Sara Petermann had an assist.
Goalkeeper Maria Sapienza had 2 saves.
Boys volleyball
Warren d. Libertyville: Warren keeps rolling in North Suburban Conference play.
The Blue Devils upped their record to 6-0 in the conference (28-2 overall) with a 25-18, 27-25 victory.
Ryan Schuette and Tyler Schwede led the way with 9 and 8 kills, respectively.
Mike McGowan had 3 blocks, Gordon Booker had 4 digs and Tyler Schwede added 3 aces for the Blue Devils.
Vernon Hills d. Zion-Benton: Herman Lynn had a big day for Vernon Hills, racking up a team-high 7 kills and 6 blocks in a 25-14, 25-11 victory.
Keegan Harris and Dan Smith added 4 kills apiece for the Cougars.
Jeff Achler had a team-high 17 kills and setter Sam Lee rolled up 19 assists for Vernon Hills, which upped its record to 14-6.
Stevenson d. Antioch: Stevenson put it together in the third game to get a 25-16, 21-25, 25-13 victory.
The Patriots were led by Brad Feiger, who had a team-high 7 kills and 3 aces.
Drew Vravick added 6 kills while Matt Ockrim and Jason Giecek each had 5 kills. Giecek also had 24 assists.
Harrison Kay led Stevenson with 17 digs.
Boys water polo
Libertyville 6, Hersey 2: Danny LeJeune racked up 4 goals to lead the Wildcats to victory.
