Geneva bounces back, beats Hinsdale Central
The Geneva girls soccer team rebounded after a Western Sun Conference loss to rival Batavia the best way possible -- with a win.
The Vikings beat nonconference opponent Hinsdale Central 1-0 in the Best of the Midwest tournament at Waubonsie Valley in Aurora Wednesday.
"We were bound for some good luck eventually," Geneva coach Ryan Estabrook said of his Vikings, who improved to 5-6 overall. "It's about time."
Vero Castro scored the sole goal of the game with 25 minutes left in the second half. It happened when Hinsdale Central's goalkeeper and another defender ran into each other. That paved the way for an easy goal for Castro.
"It wasn't pretty, but it still counts," Estabrook said.
Geneva plays again Saturday. Time, place and opponent is to be determined.
