Wrap: Cary-Grove stays unbeaten
With back-to-back goals from Taylor Mahoney, Cary-Grove (6-0, 2-0) got on top early and never looked back, downing Dundee-Crown 3-0 Wednesday in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division girls soccer action.
Mahoney scored once unassisted and once off a dish from Kelsey Passaglia, who later assisted on a Kelli Anderson goal to complete the scoring.
Alex Holland preserved the shutout for the Trojans, and Deanna Libricz collected 8 saves in goal for Dundee-Crown (1-6-2, 1-2).
Westminster Christian 3, Yorkville 3: Opening action at the St. Francis Tournament, Westminster Christian (0-6-1) logged its first tie of the season in come-from-behind fashion. Trailing 3-0 at the half, single goals from Candace Sherman, Rachel Doby and Sarah Rogers evened things up before the buzzer.
Hannah Guge added an assist, and Rachel Farquhar racked up 11 saves in the net for the Warriors.
Hampshire 4, Rockford Auburn 0:ŒThe Whip-Purs scored once in the first half before putting the game away with 3 tallies after halftime. Sam Anderson, Gianina Estocado, Christine Schumacher and Steph Toufexis all found the net for the Whips, who improved to 5-1-1. Alex Heinrich defended the net with 4 saves.
