Williams keeps Pirates jumping
Mookie Williams did his part in the jumps and also jumped into the sprints to help Palatine's boys track and field team Tuesday.
The senior standout won the long jump (22-8) and triple jump (43-1) in Tuesday's Mid-Suburban League triangular at Wheeling.
Williams also won the 200 meters in 21.9 as the Pirates (99) cruised past Fremd (46) and Wheeling (41).
Palatine's Tyler Jones and Fremd's Jeff Bobek threw 144-1 in the discus and Bobek won the shot put at 50-3.
George Faber won both hurdle races for the Pirates and Nick Busch and Wheeling's Al Chery cleared 6-4 in the high jump. Fremd's Desmond Ogoke won the 100 (10.9).
At Buffalo Grove: Pat Ziegenfuss won the 110 high hurdles (14.8) and 400 (52.6) to lead Prospect (72 points) past Conant (61) and Buffalo Grove (55) in the MSL triangular.
Matt Kennedy won the shot (50-8) and Matt Babicz (148-7) took the discus for the Knights.
Jeff Thode won the 800 (2:01.0) for Conant and Matt Newman took the high jump at 6-4 for BG.
At Schaumburg: Ty Kirk won the triple jump (43-10) and John Stoesser won the 100 (10.9) as Rolling Meadows (83 points) won the MSL triangular over Schaumburg (62) and Elk Grove (40).
Stan Pheteau won the 110 high hurdles and James Shawley was first in the pole vault (12-6) for the Mustangs.
Elk Grove's Eric Bergman won the shot put (53-0) and discus (137-2) and Michael Karwowski (21-1) took first in the long jump.
Pat Lesiewicz won the 1,600 (4:42.0) for Schaumburg.
