Let Fox River Grove put spring into your step

The third annual Fox River Grove Spring Celebration is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Stone Hill Center and Foxmoor Crossings, at routes 14 and 22.

This event will showcase Fox River Grove businesses and expose local consumers to the products and services available in the Fox River Grove community.

The celebration will feature a host of activities for local families. In addition to many stores offering special sale merchandise, free store drawings, free food and giveaways, there will be outdoor activities including Dr. Woods Guitar Emporium band, Alex and the Allstars, from noon to 2 p.m.; FRG Fire Department firetruck tours; public works equipment demonstrations; "mad science demonstrations for kids; McHenry County Historical Society bus tours; children's face painting; Weber cooking demonstrations and free samples; and demonstrations by Gangi Martial Arts, Kon Jo Karate and more.

At 11 a.m., a Best Dressed Pet Parade will be held in the Merle Norman parking lot, sponsored by Kristy's Pet Care. Local families are encouraged to dress their pet for spring, and must check in at the Pet Parade Tent. A first-place prize of $50 will be offered, as well as other prizes.

The Fox River Grove Police Department will be registering bicycles during the day for local residents, and offering free flashing safety lights donated by Crime Stoppers.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Fox River Grove Lioness group will conduct a huge "upscale garage sale," with bargains galore.
