Learn more about 'The Fox' at MCC

A McHenry County College's Retired Adults Program presentation, "The Fox," will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 29 at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

Pat Torrance has been a member of the Waubonsee Community College Lifelong Learning Institute for 10 years.

Her background includes writing experience in the fields of genealogy, local history and how-to books, but, as Pat says, "Most notably, I was a ghost writer for my friend Jim Phillips, an environmentalist who was known as 'The Fox.' The book, 'Raising Kane' was a secret project and came about after our collaboration on a local history book, when he revealed his identity to me for the first time.

"Local people will recognize his name as he gained national publicity for his daring exploits during the 1970s."

Torrance will talk about these exploits and activities, Jim's concern for the Fox River Valley and what it was like to work on the book with him.

There is a fee for this class, which is offered through the senior RAP for Lifelong Learners.
