Man rescued from vehicle in Kress creek
West Chicago fire officials say an unidentified man they rescued from Kress Creek late Friday was "very lucky."
First Deputy Fire Chief Bob Hodge said the man, believed to be in his 30s, lost control of his black sedan about 10:30 p.m. Friday and flipped it several times before it landed in about 4 feet of water in Kress Creek at the intersection of Wilson Road and Joliet Street.
"When we got to him, he was a bit frazzled and sitting in the back seat of his car with all the windows broken out," Hodge said. "We assisted him out of the car's rear window and walked him out of the creek."
Hodge said it's unusual for the department to perform water rescues.
"That was a wake-up call," he said. "It was cold out there."
Hodge said the man had minor injuries and was taken to Central DuPage Hospital.
"I don't know the extent of his injuries, but I saw blood," he said.
Calls to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office for information on the driver were not returned Saturday afternoon.
