No one home during Lake in the Hills fire

Fire damaged a Lake in the Hills house Monday afternoon. No one was hurt.

Authorities say no one was home during the blaze at 1311 Adams St. that rendered the two-story home uninhabitable.

A motorist passing by called the fire in at 12:49 p.m. and crews arrived a minute later, according to a news release.

They spotted flames bursting out the single-family home's front door and upstairs bedroom. The fire was out by 1:30 p.m., with crews remaining on the scene until 2:32 p.m. for clean up.

Fire personnel from Huntley and Crystal Lake assisted.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Although damage to the house was significant, an estimate was not available late Monday.
