Roselle school gets $2,000
Roselle Elementary School recently received a $2,000 grant for technology upgrades from Best Buy. Carrie DeForest, the school's media specialist, wrote the application for the grant in hopes of securing three new LCD projectors for teacher classrooms. The school is among roughly 1,300 nationwide to receive such a grant. It's a part of Best Buy's Teach Awards program. The company awards roughly $3 million annually to schools for technology advances.
Parent's Night Out
The girls' softball team at West Chicago High School will hold its second annual "Parent's Night Out" bowling fundraiser at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $25, which includes three games of bowling, a raffle and pizza and dessert buffet. Proceeds will benefit the school's softball program. Villa Park book sale in April
Friends of the Villa Park Library will hold its semi-annual used book sale next month. Many of the donated books are in very good to like-new condition. All are available at bargain prices. A selection of popular movies and television shows also will be available. Prices range from 50 cents for paperbacks and CDs to $5 for special items. April 5 will be bargain day with a plastic bag of books selling for $5. All proceeds will help pay for library programs. The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. April 4 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5 at the library, 305 S.
