Former high school football stars charged in brawl

Two former local high school football stars face felony charges stemming from a brawl at the college they now attend.

Matthew Livingston, 18, was a member of the Wheaton Warrenville South High School football team last year. Anthony Papp, 19, played for Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville.

Papp is now a member of the University of Dayton football team in Ohio. Livingston used to be on the team, but quit earlier this year.

Livingston and Papp are charged with aggravated burglary and felonious assault, according to Montgomery County, Ohio, court records. The charges stem from a fight on March 8 at a campus residence hall that left two of their fellow students hospitalized with various injuries, including broken bones and concussions.

Two other members of the Dayton football team were also involved and face identical charges.

The nature and cause of the fight is under investigation by the University of Dayton Department of Public Safety.

Livingston and Papp are both free and awaiting court appearances after posting bonds of $5,000 each to be released from the Montgomery County jail.

Livingston's attorney, Jon Paul Rion, did not immediately return an interview request Monday.
