Students win scholarships

Five Northwest suburban high school students have won scholarships to the Honeywell Scholars at Presidential Classroom program, held March 2-8 in Washington, D.C.

They will join students from around the globe learning about the interconnection between science, technology and public policy and meeting with elected officials, business leaders and government appointees to discuss current issues of global concern.

Honeywell awards the scholarships after a rigorous application and review process based on academic achievement and community involvement. Winners are: Matthew Bauer, of Schaumburg, a senior at Schaumburg High School; Matthew Farrenkopf of Buffalo Grove, a senior at Adlai Stevenson High School; Bryan Lee of Schaumburg, a senior at Conant High School; Adam Mastrangeli of Bartlett, a senior at Bartlett High School; and Marietta Smith of Mount Prospect, a senior at Prospect High School.
