MCC offering online GED courses

Students interested in earning their General Education Development certificate online can register for a new GEDi that features more interaction.

Registration for the online course is at 9 a.m. and at 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, this Monday through March 27 at McHenry County College in Building A, Room A362, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

Students must arrive promptly at the start time; it takes two to three hours to complete the registration and review class information.

On the registration day of their choice, prospective students may come to either the morning or evening registration session. Staff will help students complete forms and assess needs.

Candidates for the free online GEDi class must be 17 years of age or older and have been out of high school for one year or longer, be self motivated, have an 11th grade reading level or higher, have basic computer skills, and an e-mail address.

Students are required to attend one GEDi orientation, which they can attend in February or March. For details, call (815) 455-8752.

Reading, GED and English as a Second Language classes at McHenry County College are free to those who qualify.
