German shepherd club plans Correction Clinic

The German Shepherd Dog Training Club of Chicago will hold the next all-breed Correction Clinic Feb. 22.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and judging starts at 7 p.m. in the clubhouse at 4925 County Farm Road, Hanover Park. The pre-entry fee is $5 plus $3 for second entry of same dog. E-mail and gate entries are $6 plus $4. Mail pre-entries and checks payable to the club to Teri Childers, 874 Somerset Drive, Carol Stream, IL 60188. They must be received by Feb. 21.

• Car-Dun-Al Obedience Training Club's next Correction Clinic is scheduled for Feb. 26 at 10643 Wolf Drive, Huntley. Registration is 6:30 to 8 p.m. and judging starts at 7 p.m. The pre-entry fee of $5 plus $4 for second entry of same dog go to Barb Lepke, P.O. Box 507, Wayne, IL 60184. Gate entry is $7 and $5. • Rand Park Training Club's next Correction Clinic will be March 1 at For Your Canine, 4233 United Parkway, Schiller Park. Judging starts at 11:30 a.m. and no walk-ins after 1 p.m. Pre-entry fee is $7 plus $5 for second entry of same dog. Send entry and fee payable to the club to Jean Eremo, 2511 N 79th Ave., Elmwood Park, IL 60707. Gate entry is $8 and $7. Classes are limited to 30 dogs. Cluster weekend: Great Lakes All Terrier Association will start the International Kennel Club's Cluster of Shows Feb. 20 in McCormick Place West, 23rd and Martin Luther King Drive, Chicago. Local judges will include Marcia Feld, Libertyville; Julie Felten, Wauconda; and Ed and Peggy Haas, Montgomery.

• Park Shore Kennel Club Show, second in the Cluster, will be held Feb. 21 followed by Blackhawk Kennel Club on Feb. 22, which includes conformation, obedience and rally as will the Feb. 23 and 24 International Kennel Club shows.

Agility:ŒBlitzen Agility Club of Chicago will hold Agility trials on Feb. 22, 23 and 24 at the same McCormick Place location. Trial secretary is Robert Olson of Glen Ellyn. For more information, call him at (630) 790-8426.

At New Lenox:ŒIllinois Collie Fanciers will hold a Specialty including conformation and sweepstakes on Feb. 23 in the Stone City Kennel Club Building at Cedar and Laraway roads in New Lenox.

• Chicago Collie Club will have the same menu Feb. 24 at the New Lenox site.

New classes: Rand Park Training Club has new class sessions starting with Orientation (without dogs) on March 4. Starting times are 6:45, 7:35, 8:25 and 9:15 p.m. depending on class level. • Leash and Collar Dog Training, 238 Saunders Road, Riverwoods, has a new Puppy class starting at 6:30 p.m. and Basic Obedience at 7:45 p.m. March 6. Therapy dogs:ŒIn case you want to see therapy dogs at work, volunteers from Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy will be at International Kennel Club's site on Feb. 23 and 24.

CCI's loss: Sympathy is extended to the family of Amy Campos of Libertyville, the staff at the Chicago Satellite of Canine Companions for Independence in Woodstock, and also the volunteers who served as puppy raisers for service dogs for those other than the blind and deaf. Amy was coordinator for the Satellite and also had a service dog due to being a quadriplegic. She will be missed!
