Bragaw, board have respect for staff
To the editor: Recently in an article written by Sheila Ahern, Northwest Suburban High School District 214 Board President Lenore Bragaw is quoted as saying, "Everyone needs to stop standing around the water cooler and focus on educating our children."
This quote has upset many staff members in the district because it incorrectly depicts us as unprofessional and undedicated employees of District 214.
I am very pleased to be associated with all the staff members of the district. I have seen with my own eyes the dedication that teachers, support staff, maintenance and others who work for the district have for the education of our students. I question sometimes whether I am worthy to be part of the District 214 staff.
I have on numerous occasions worked with the school board of this district, and I have worked personally with President Bragaw on matters related to education. I can say without any reservation that President Bragaw and the rest of the school board do believe that the staff of the district is extremely professional and that this quote was taken out of context or was a mistake.
