McCain confirmed for Friday GOP dinner in DuPage Co.
Some arms were twisted and schedules re-arranged, but GOP presidential front-runner Sen. John McCain indeed will appear at tonight's sold-out Lincoln Day Dinner in Oakbrook Terrace.
State Sen. Dan Cronin, who also serves as DuPage County Republican Party chairman, confirmed Thursday that McCain will attend the annual GOP gathering, originally planned as a campaign stop for Rudy Giuliani.
Cronin said he spent Wednesday night on the phone attempting to configure a schedule that worked for everyone.
"Sen. McCain will be with us Friday night consistent with our plans and expectations," Cronin said Thursday afternoon. "He will be our honored guest and speaker. And we couldn't be happier."
McCain previously had scheduled a campaign rally for 5:45 p.m. today at the Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park. Immediately after the rally he is scheduled to arrive at the Drury Lane Theatre and Conference Center in Oakbrook Terrace.
