Time for a change in School Dist. 200

There comes a time when we must admit that change is inevitable. So what does the change of the new Hubble Middle School mean to me? I have lived in Warrenville all my life. I graduated from Wheaton Community High School in the class of 1942. I served in World War II and went to college on the GI bill. I worked in a family business in Warrenville for 40 years.

I taught horticulture in public and private schools for 20 years. I also served on two boards of education before District 200 was formed. I was on the board of education that decided to build Wheaton North and buy the land for Wheaton Warrenville South. I have seen a lot of change!

My wife, Vivian, and I are empty-nesters and senior citizens. We have two grandchildren in Wheaton Warrenville South High School. It will be a long while before any more of our progeny will be in the local schools.

A new Hubble Middle School means a more efficient economical building designed to serve the middle school students. These children will be closer to home and parental help if needed. They will have shorter transport to and from school. They will be in a better learning environment. These things cannot be done in the present building.

The present Hubble is wasting money, time and convenience for students and residents of District 200. My school taxes will not increase soon and bonded indebtedness can be reduced when the present Hubble is sold. I believe it is time for this change. Vote "yes" for the new Hubble on Tuesday.
