Fox River Grove troop counts 32nd Eagle Scout
Boy Scout Troop 166 of Fox River Grove recognized Kevin Nash for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout at an Eagle Court of Honor held Jan. 5. Kevin became the 32nd member of the Troop to be awarded the rank of Eagle Scout since the Troop was chartered in 1934.
Only 3 percent of boys who enter scouting achieve this distinctive award. An Eagle Scout must have completed at least 21 merit badges and organized a service project that benefits his church, community or school.
Kevin filmed 30 hours of footage to create a promotional 5-minute video for the Cary United Methodist Church, and put close to 100 man-hours into the whole process.
During Kevin's scouting career, he held the positions of bugler, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. Kevin earned 34 merit badges and spent more than 97 nights camping. He also received the Jeff Clark Spirit Award, given annually to a scout in the district who personifies the scout spirit, lives the Scout Oath and Law, and puts into words "What Scouting Means to Me".
Nash is majoring in cinema studies and comparative literature at the University of Iowa, and hopes to become a film director.
