Enjoy an evening with Dog Listener

Save-A-Pet is offering a chance to spend an evening with Dog Listener Jan Fennell while making a donation to the organization at the same time.

The event will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 7 on the Northwestern University campus in Evanston. Tickets are $20 if purchased by Friday and $30 at the door. Fun Match and Correction: Upcoming events Northwest Obedience Club's next Fun Match will be held Feb. 1 in the training center at 735 Industrial Drive, Cary. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. and judging at 7 p.m. For information, contact Arlene at (847) 483-7760 or mzking@juno.com.

• Rand Park Dog Training Club will hold its next Correction Clinic Feb. 9 with judging to begin at 11:30 a.m. and no walk-ins after 1 p.m. These are held at For Your Canine, 4233 United Parkway, Schiller Park. Shows and Trials:ŒIllini German Shepherd Club's Specialty will be Feb. 1 at For Your Canine, 4233 United Parkway, Schiller Park.

• Shoreline German Shepherd Club's Specialty will be on Feb. 2 and 3 at the same place.

• Chicagoland Shetland Sheepdog Club's Specialty will be Feb. 2 and 3 at BC Dog Training, 920 Turret Court, Mundelein. It will include conformation, obedience and rally.

Shih Tzu meeting: Chicagoland Shih Tzu Club will hold its next meeting at 8 p.m. Feb. 5 in the Arlington Heights Public Library, 500 N. Dunton (at Euclid). For more information, call Diane at (847) 438-7077.

NewŒclasses: Paws R Us K9s will have a Pre-Beginner class at 7 p.m. and a Beginner class at 8 p.m. Feb. 14. Rally classes are held Wednesday nights and drop-ins are welcome. These classes are held at 503 Sundown, South Elgin. For the obedience classes call Toni at (847) 695-5043; for Rally call Penny at (847) 882-5342. For information about classes for puppies 4 months or younger which are held in South Barrington, call Val at (847) 382-3217.

District 214 classes: Community Education in District 214 has a variety of classes in the spring session.

There is a class on Feb. 16 and 23 designed to help the handler and dog become therapy teams and prepare them for national therapy testing. The class number is 5307.

Dog obedience classes starting Feb. 10 will include a 10-session class of basic obedience. That class number is 5301.

The nine-session Advanced Obedience and Rally starts Feb. 18, and the class number is 5302.

Two sessions on what dog and cat owners should know about insurance, wellness, etc., (No. 5308) will be held in March and Animal Whispering (No. 5400) will be held April 10.
