Get details on new Dist. 300 program

Liberty Elementary School in Carpentersville will be the new site for the district's Dual Language program this fall. Informational sessions for interested families are at 9 a.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. Thursday.

Applications will be accepted during these sessions, and questions regarding the District 300 English-Spanish Dual Language Program will be answered.

For parents who cannot attend one of these orientation sessions, there will be sessions scheduled in February and March. For details, call (847) 426-1300, ext. 313.

This program is open to all District 300 students who will enter kindergarten to first grade in 2008-09 school year. Transportation is provided.

A dual language program is an enriched form of education. The goal of this innovative, research-based, two-way language initiative is to develop a high level of achievement in speaking, reading and writing in two languages for students in kindergarten to fifth grade. Liberty Elementary School is at 6500 Miller Road, just off Randall Road in Carpentersville.

Cary mayor to speak at roundtable

Current issues and local development will be addressed at the next Cary Business Roundtable hosted by the Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce at noon Wednesday at Cary Country Club, 2400 Grove Lane. The keynote speaker will be Cary Mayor Steve Lamal.

The event, held annually by the chamber, connects local business and area residents with village leaders for first-hand updates on local progress and development.

Cost of the event is $15 per person and includes a buffet lunch. Guest speaker will be Chris Manheim of the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation.

Relay For Life hosts kick-off event

The Kane County Forest Preserve District will host the 12th annual Relay For Life of Kane County on June 27-28 at Elfstrom Stadium in the Kane County Events Center.

Attend the kick-off meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Eagle Brook Country Club in Geneva. Cancer survivors, caregivers, and anyone interested in forming a team or volunteering for the 2008 Relay is encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.
