Giuliani to speak in DuPage

Republican Party presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani will be the speaker at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner hosted by the DuPage Republican Party on Feb. 1. The event will take place just four days before Illinois' presidential primary vote. Dan Cronin, chairman of the DuPage Republican Party, said in a written statement that the dinner is designed to build the GOP base in DuPage and continue a Republican presence in the White House. Cronin did not immediately respond to interview requests Monday. Giuliani's Illinois campaign headquarters is located in Lisle.

Itasca rollover slows traffic

Two drivers were taken to area hospitals Monday after a rollover on I-290 westbound at the split of I-355 south, Itasca Acting Lt. Mark Ber said. Just after 3 p.m., a man driving a Ford Ranger somehow lost control of the vehicle. When the vehicle rolled over, it caused a four-door sedan to hit a median wall, officials said. The female driver of the sedan was treated for minor injuries at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove. The driver of the Ford Ranger was treated for minor injuries at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, Ber said. Two of the expressway's five lanes were blocked off from traffic for several hours, officials said.

District 41 gets poll results

Glen Ellyn Elementary District 41 have released the results of a Harris School poll conducted last fall. Responses from survey participants showed the district scored well in most areas compared to national data, and strongest in regards to teachers and computer technology. Satisfaction results were lowest, however, in relation to the district's budgeting process and how it communicates budgeting issue. The study identified that as a serious issue. District officials say they plan to use the overall detailed results as part of their ongoing plan for district improvement.

Boy scout auction

The families of Boy Scout Troop 32 in Carol Stream will host their 25th annual scout auction on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. The auction will be held at American Legion Post 76, located at 570 S. Gary Ave. in Carol Stream. Among the merchandise to be donated will be golf outings and a chance for a child to be a "firefighter for a day" at the Carol Stream Fire Protection District.
