Wrap: Wauconda defeats N. Chicago
Lauren Mead scored her 1,000th career point last week.
The Wauconda junior continues to put the ball in the basket.
Mead led all scorers with 17 points, and Kate Martino added 15, as the Bulldogs defeated host North Chicago 51-42 in North Suburban Prairie Division action Thursday night.
Mead made a pair of 3-pointers.
The win for Wauconda (9-10, 5-4) was just its third in its last 11 games and snapped a two-game slide.
The Bulldogs held a 17-15 edge after one quarter, were up 29-24 at halftime and 42-29 after three.
North Chicago was led in scoring by Tatiana Webb with 15 points.
Round Lake 59, Marengo 55: The long trip to Marengo was worth it for the Panthers, who won their third game in a row and 11th in 12 games.
Brittany Kucia scored a career-high 19 points for Round Lake (18-3).
Amber Phillips added 16.
Boys basketball
Huntley 49, Grayslake North 37:The visiting Knights trailed 14-6 after one quarter and 32-12 at halftime.
Grayslake North's top scorer was Clay Henricksen with 8 points.
Girls bowling
Wauconda d. Deerfield: Ashley Franklin rolled a 574 series with a high game of 225 for Wauconda (2018) in its win over Deerfield (1542).
Wrestling
Grayslake N. 45, Grayslake C. 30: The victorious Knights got pins from Adrian Avila (103), Danny Mendoza (140), Oleh Mykolshyn (145), Austin Nauseda (189) and Dan Lutz (285).
Grayslake North's Steve Langer (139) recorded a technical fall and Mack Kohnke (160) had a major decision.
Women's basketball
Lake County 63, Elgin 57: Tiffany Lehner had 19 points and 10 rebounds for College of Lake County, which rallied in the second half to improve to 12-3 and 4-0 in the Skyway Conference.
CLC also received 17 points from Ally Yarc and 13 from Alyssa Wilson.
Boys swimming
Mundelein 110, Warren 76: Richard Lukacs won the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle for the Mustangs, and he also swam ion the victorious 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
Mundelein also got wins from Michael Begrowicz (200 freestyle), David Rieck (diving), Sean Trinka (100 backstroke) and Michael McClure (100 breaststroke).
Warren's Kirk Gagliardo captured the 50 and 100 freestyles and also aided the 200 freestyle relays with Kurtis Schultz, Nolan Coy and Karter Gagliardo. The Blue Devils' Jono Leafblad finished first in the 100 butterfly.
Libertyville 122, VH 61: Ben Glick won the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle for the Wildcats. He also swam on the winning 400 freestyle relay.
Libertyville's other winners were Andrew Tillman (200 freestyle), Stevie Wimmer (50 freestyle), Baris Pekpolat (100 butterfly) and Kegan Rogers (100 backstroke). John Blankenhorn, Danny LeJeune, Eric Li, Eric Lucas and Chris Marr each swam on two victorious relays.
Vernon Hills' winners were Gordy Skeoch (100 breaststroke), George Andreev (500 freestyle) and Zach Kisely (diving).
