Free throw contest to be held Saturday
The Knights of Columbus Wheaton Council 2601 will hold a Free Throw Shooting Contest for boys and girls ages 10 to 14 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Michael's School, 314 W. Willow, Wheaton. Village Theatre to hold auditions
The Village Theatre Guild will hold auditions for the musical comedy "Romance/Romance" at 1 p.m. Sunday at the guild's theater, Park Boulevard and Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn.
Those who audition should prepare one song, preferably one appropriate to the romantic theme of the show. Two male and two female roles are available.

Learn to snowshoe Sunday in Wheaton
An Introduction to Snowshoeing will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday beginning at the Youth-Group Cabin at Herrick Lake Forest Preserve, Herrick and Butterfield roads, Wheaton. Center to celebrate Martin Luther King
Wheaton Christian Center will hold the ninth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration at 7 p.m. Monday at the center, 610 E. North Ave., Carol Stream.
The theme is "A Beloved Community: Family, Future & Faith." Featured speaker is the Rev. Sean McMillan, senior pastor of Great Steps Church in Chicago.
