Here are some dining events taking place in the city and suburbs:

Southern touch: Those looking for a Southern-style Sunday breakfast may want to head to The Oscar Swan Country Inn at 1800 W. State St., Geneva. The inn offers its Southern Country Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. every Sunday.

The buffet-style breakfast features blueberry pancakes, herb-roasted red potatoes, honey-glazed ham, eggs, bread pudding, bagels and homemade muffins.

Guest will dine at antique place settings while listening to background music. After breakfast, take a tour of the inn's antique-filled rooms.

Vodka all the time: Brasserie JO, 59 W. Hubbard St., Chicago, hosts a DiVine Vodka Reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 23.

The gluten-free DiVine Vodka will be incorporated into a variety of Brasserie JO's passed hors d'oeuvres and cocktails at the reception.

A distiller and the founder of the DiVine Vodka product will be on hand to meet with guests as they sample the vodka creations.

Some of the hors d'oeuvres on the menu for the event include a vodka petit burger, vodka cheese fondue, vodka drunken shrimp, pepper vodka beef and even a chocolate vodka cake.

Cocktails will include a DiVine Grand Slam and An American in Paris.

The cost is $25 per person.

A toast: The Mount Prospect Historical Society and the Vino 100 wine shop host their Toast of the Town event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the wine shop, 110 S. Emerson St., Mount Prospect.

Patrons ages 21 and older are invited to the event that will feature a selection of sparkling champagnes and wines, along with hors d'oeuvres.

Admission is $10 per person at the door. All proceeds go to the Mount Prospect Historical Society. Call (847) 392-9006.

Where's the beef? It's at Sam and Harry's at 1551 Thoreau Drive in the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center, Schaumburg.

Sam and Harry's will host an Akaushi wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24, showcasing Akaushi beef -- an all-natural, source-verified kobe/wagyu beef.

Chef Joshua Humphrey will create dishes that include grilled Akaushi sirloin and red pepper soup, broiled Akaushi burger, Akaushi tenderloin, pumpkin mashed potatoes, whole grain creole and for dessert, a sangria poached pear and almond tart.

Dinner costs $110 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
