Briefs: Political forum on Saturday

Democratic candidates for county, state and federal offices have been invited to appear at a meet-the-candidates forum in Lake Villa on Saturday. The event will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lake Villa District Library, 1001 E. Grand Ave. Candidates in the Feb. 5 primary will introduce themselves and answer questions from potential voters. Referendum Q-and-A

Fox Lake Library District officials will host a question-and-answer session with voters on Saturday at the library, 255 E. Grand Ave. The event runs from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Library district trustees will be on hand to help answer questions about the Feb. 5 referendum and the proposed new library building. The district is seeking voter approval to obtain $15 million in construction bonds for a new library. For details, call the library at (847) 587-0198.

Chamber to host luncheon

The Wauconda Chamber of Commerce hosts a "Come as You Are" lunch on Jan. 22, starting at 11:30 a.m. The luncheon will be held upstairs at the Lakeside Inn, 110 S. Main St., Wauconda. District 34 meeting set

Antioch Elementary District 34's Navigate34 committee will host a second community meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at Antioch Upper Grade School, 800 Highview Drive. Sharon Kramer, a national curriculum/school improvement consultant, will present information on performance. Feedback gained from Navigate34 meetings will provide the basis for recommendations planned to be presented to the school board in July.

More 'High School Musical'

Lake Zurich High School will present Disney's "High School Musical" at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 and 26 and at 2 p.m. Jan 26 and 27 in the school's Performing Arts Center, 300 Church St., Lake Zurich. Due to demand, the high school has added a performance at 7 p.m. Jan. 27. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $6 for seniors, students and children.
