NAMI to focus on disability act

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, NAMI DuPage speakers series will feature Jeffrey Rabin and a discussion of the Social Security disability law at 7 p.m. today in the College of DuPage Student Resource Center, room 1450 A, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn. Musical 'Little Women' to open

Wheaton College's Opera Music Theater will present the musical version of "Little Women" at 7:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday in Barrows Auditorium in the Billy Graham Center, 500 College Ave., Wheaton. Focus on snowy art Wednesday

The Glen Ellyn/Wheaton Art Associates of the Art Institute are planning "Let It Snow: Impressionist Winterscapes" at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Abbington, Route 53 and Butterfield Road. Steak fry benefits veterans Saturday

American Legion Post 76 will hold a steak fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the post, 570 S. Gary Ave., Carol Stream. Dinner is a 12-14 ounce T-bone or rib-eye steak dinner for $13, and a hamburger plate for children for $3. All proceeds benefit veterans and veterans programs. Safari photos on exhibit this month

The Glen Ellyn Public Library will feature the safari photography in Kenya of David Parisi during January at the library, 400 Duane St., Glen Ellyn. Parisi of Glendale Heights traveled to game parks in Kenya in 2006. For details, call (630) 469-0879.

Train show benefits museum Saturday

The DuPage County Historical Museum is in crisis and may close due to budget cuts. To help save the museum, TrainFest will be held at the museum from noon to 4 p.m. with the trains running from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 102 E. Wesley St., Wheaton.

The HO-gauge train layout at the museum is one of the largest in the country, covering more than 2,000 feet and depicts the Chicago and Northwestern, Burlington Northern and the Chicago, Aurora and Elgin railroads as well as artifacts, stories and a panel exhibit. Admission for adults is $3; children, students and seniors over 65 are $2; children under 4 are admitted free.
