Cary, Fox River Grove seek pageant queen hopefuls

Candidates are being sought for the 53rd annual Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove Queen Pageant, scheduled for May 24 at Cary-Grove High School, 2208 Three Oaks Road in Cary.

The event is being coordinated by the Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce. Winners receive business scholarships from the chamber and numerous prizes donated by local business.

Applications forms are available at the chamber office at 27 E. Main St. and Cary Grove High School. Forms also will be available on the Web site at www. carygrovechamber.com and various locations around town.

The deadline to register is Feb. 6.

Young women who apply for the pageant must be between the ages of 16 to 21 and reside within either ZIP code 60013 or 60021. They will be expected to appear at the 2008 Community Showcase on March 1 at the high school, participate in business and community events, and compete the night of the pageant on May 24.

The first meeting of candidates will be a mandatory photo and information session at 10 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Fox River Grove village hall, 305 Illinois St.

Each queen candidate must be sponsored by a Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce member. The cost to sponsor a candidate is $250. Sponsors receive significant visibility throughout the pageant process.
