Township offers free car wash

Free car washes will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays through Feb. 23 at the Schaumburg Township Road and Bridge Garage, One Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates.

Donations of canned and non-perishable goods are requested. The car washes are part of the Schaumburg Township Highway Department's Clear Vision Program.

Library hosting teen programs

Subjects from writing to animation to video games are in store for teens this month at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

The Teen Writing Club will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Rasmussen South Room of the central library. Students in seventh to 12th grades are invited to share stories and poems, while author and columnist Catherine Stier discussed how to get published.

The theme of this month's Teen Advisory Board meeting from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Tuesday will be "Wii Need a Study Break." It will include Wii bowling tournaments as well as food and beverages. New members are welcome.

Job seekers invited to Jan. 24 job fair

Job seekers will find many opporturnities to meet potential employers at an upcoming job fair from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

Employers at the job fair will represent a variety of companies, corporations, staffing companies, the manufacturing industry, organizations and retail companies from throughout northern Cook County.

Job seekers will have the opportunity to gather information from employers and find out about current openings. Attendees are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes.

Local author hosts kids' poetry show

Children's author and performer Bill Buczinsky of Arlington Heights will present an evening of poetry and song to benefit the charity AboutFace USA. The "Frozen Poetry" show will take place at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest.

AboutFace USA provides support for people with facial differences they are born with or occur from illness or trauma. Buczinsky is the founder of A Child's Voice, which inspires children and adults through poetry workshops, performances, teacher training and corporate appearances.
