Wrap: Scouts deliver Z-B 1st defeat
So much for Zion-Benton's perfect season.
Matt Vogrich scored 30 points, as Lake Forest's boys basketball team edged visiting Zion-Benton 64-62 Tuesday night.
Andy Timson added 15 for the Scouts, who improved to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the North Suburban Lake Division.
Zion-Benton fell to 16-1 and 5-1 in the NSC Lake, a game ahead in the loss column of Lake Forest, Mundelein, Stevenson and Warren.
Wauconda 47, Marengo 31: Connor Dimick was kept off the score sheet in Wauconda's game against North Chicago last Friday night.
Tuesday night, no one in the gym scored more points than the junior point guard.
Dimick netted 18 points to help lead Wauconda to a 47-31 nonconference win over host Marengo.
Bryce Lahrman added 11 points for the Bulldogs, who improved to 8-9. Eric Grozavescu chipped in 8.
N. Chicago 91, Round Lake 72: The visiting Warhawks remained in sole possession of first place in the North Suburban Prairie Division, as Keith Ford poured in 27 points.
North Chicago (12-2, 6-0) also received 17 points from Kentrall Wilson, 12 from Donzell Jones and 10 from DeShawn Chambliss.
Round Lake (3-12, 1-4) was led by Vernon Randolph's 28 points.
Jerome Brown and Mike Mpokota added 13 and 12, respectively.
Grant 63, McHenry 47: The visiting Bulldogs captured the nonconference game to avenge a 67-56 loss at their own tournament.
Grant (10-5) rebounded from its 54-52 loss to Round Lake last Friday, as well.
"It was good to see the kids bounce back after a complete collapse (against Round Lake)," coach Phil Ralston said. "They showed a lot more composure and beat a pretty good team on their own floor."
Mike Shields and Curtis Oler scored 19 and 18 points, respectively, for Grant.
McHenry was paced by Pat Bellich's 14 points. Chris Madson had 11 and Zach Borter contributed 10.
