Briefs: Study analyzes airport
An economic impact study on Chicago Executive Airport, jointly owned by Prospect Heights and Wheeling, found it is a major force in both the local and regional economy. The study found 567 individuals work at the airport, which generates an annual payroll of more than $33 million annually. The combined annual economic impacts of the airport's operation, visitors and multiplier impacts total more than $330.8 million in economic activity, the study said. The study, conducted by Wilber Smith Assocs. for the airport, found 73 firms and agencies located at the airport provide aviation services and equipment. The airport handles more than 110,000 annual aircraft operations and 294 aircraft are based there.
Cottage is in Mt. Prospect
The Compassion Cottage, built in Barrington and going on national tour in January to promote awareness of the ongoing need for help for Katrina victims, has been moved to the parking lot of St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 S. Wille in Mount Prospect. The church, which has sent three work groups to Mississippi, hopes the presence will spark donations for the area and volunteers for another work group. The cottage will be open for tours Sunday and Dec. 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., as well as on Thursday and on Dec. 28 from 9 to 11 a.m., said Cindy Decker, the youth and family coordinator for the church.
