Organ recital set at Huntley church

The community is invited to attend the third organ recital in the annual Advent Organ Recital Series at First Congregational Church in Huntley at 12:10 p.m. Friday.

Phyllis Connelly will perform. She is an organ and piano instructor at McHenry County College and Elgin Community College. She maintains a large private studio and performs many area recitals. She also is the chairperson of the Dundee Area Lenten Recital Series.

The recital is on a free-will offering basis.

Refreshments will be served after the recital in Fellowship Hall. The church is on the corner of Main and Church streets in Huntley. For details, call (847) 669-3691.

MCC to hold class for educators

An Information Literacy for Educators class will be offered at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake. Classes will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 12, 26, Feb. 2, 16, March 1 and 15. Three graduate credits are available.

The course is designed for educators to locate, evaluate and use information. Participants will learn techniques to improve their own and their students' research skills and will learn methods of infusing information literacy into their curricula. Information issues and their effects on society and education will be covered.

The pre-registration fee is $219. Register by calling (815) 455-8588 and use course ID NPE C50-001. A technology fee of $27 and a registration fee to Aurora University of $225 for the three graduate credits is payable by check the first day of class.
