Musical pair expand partnership with Heavenly Piano showroom
Two musicians, who in the past worked by appointment only, recently expanded their piano business in Arlington Heights.
Dan Kastenmeier and Mark Stanielun launched an 8,000-square-foot showroom at 214 E. Golf Road in the International Plaza. Heavenly Pianos features about 150 pianos as well as a 125-seat recital hall for live concert performances, Kastenmeier said.
The shop is the area's exclusive dealer for New Weber and Albert Weber pianos. "We're rated the nation's largest Weber dealer," said Kastenmeier, a resident of Mount Prospect.
The showroom also offers an array of used pianos by Steinway, Baldwin, Yamaha, Kawai, Chickering, Boston, Mason and Hamlin.
Stanielun, born and raised in Poland, is a master technician and rebuilds pianos. "All of our pre-owned pianos are in excellent condition," Kastenmeier said.
About seven years ago the men started a small business selling pianos, mainly working with piano teachers in the area. They said they hit a plateau and were looking for more exposure and to grow the business. They opened the new showroom Nov. 12.
The men, both passionate about music, say they are down to earth and do not offer pushy selling techniques.
They work with customers in an effort to find the piano that best meets their needs. Their pianos start in price at about $500 and range up to $75,000 for the finest concert quality pianos.
Digital pianos, disc player pianos as well as acoustic console, spinet and studio pianos are available at the business.
Professional piano teachers offer lessons at the new business as well. A line of rental pianos is also available.
Kastenmeier, 33, started playing the organ at the age of 8. A native of central Wisconsin, he learned the instrument from his grandfather, who was a piano technician. Kastenmeier also studied trumpet and piano. He has worked for several large music companies before launching his business.
Stanielun, 54, has achieved the status of concert pianist and is a master piano tuner/technician and rebuilder. The Northbrook resident traveled the world as a concert pianist before getting into business here.
The new shop is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
