Briefs: Algonquin creates court

Veteran Administrative Law Judge David Eterno likely will be the man overseeing Algonquin's newly formed municipal court. The village's committee of the whole Tuesday approved his addition. Eterno, who also serves as an administrative law judge in Palatine and Mount Prospect, now awaits a board vote. The municipal court would handle people challenging their citations for code, parking and water violations. Right now, Algonquin residents and staff make the long drive to Woodstock at McHenry County Court to deal with these issues. A municipal court will eliminate that portion of the process and keep court costs and fees in town, Assistant Village Manager Jenna Kollings said. Cases are due to be heard once a month in spring or summer 2008.
