Help rehab center when you shop

The Adult & Child Rehab Center will hold a Shop & Share fundraising program Dec. 17-19 at all Jewel-Osco stores.

By shopping at Jewel-Osco on one of those days, 5 percent of the total purchases, excluding tax, will be donated by Jewel-Osco to the Rehab Center.

Anyone interested in helping by shopping at Jewel-Osco on those dates will need a "Shop & Share Identification Slip." To get one, call the Rehab Center at (815) 338-1707.

The Adult & Child Rehab Center provides physical, occupational, speech and lymphedema therapies, as well as nursing care to the residents of McHenry County. The Rehab Center accepts most types of insurance.

Aunt Holly will read holiday stories

Friends of the Opera House have arranged for "Aunt Holly" to read stories to children from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Hear Christmas stories at the Stage Left Cafe of the Opera House, 125 Van Buren St., Woodstock.

You can stop by for 30 minutes or stay for the entire two hours. For more information, call (815) 338-4212.

Artists reception set at River Art studio

River Art studio and gallery, 121 Madison St., Algonquin will hold an artists reception from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday complete with holiday music.

Edwin Meyers art students from Elgin Community College and River Art students will be displaying various works in several mediums. Also featured will be jewelry designs by Beata Krupa.

Gallery hours from Thursday through Dec. 17. are 2 to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
