Snow leads to death in DuPage Co.

A homeless man, apparently seeking shelter from the cold, died Tuesday night inside a motor home that was found engulfed in flames in Addison.

The motor home was parked in an alley behind the 600 block of Addison Road.

The DuPage County coroner's office has not released the official cause of death, and police are withholding the man's name pending notification of his family.

Addison Police Chief Timothy Hayden said police and rescue workers found the man's badly burned body once the blaze was extinguished about 9 p.m.

No one knew the victim was inside, Hayden said, and arson units from Illinois, DuPage County and the Addison Police and Fire departments are investigating the cause of the blaze.

The fire caused minor damage to overhead electrical wires in the alley, which sits behind a business and apartments near the intersection of Addison Road and Blecke Avenue. Nothing else sustained any damage.
