Store manager victim of robbery

Carol Stream police were searching for a suspect in a Friday morning robbery.

The robbery happened at 10:30 a.m. outside a business at 628 E. St. Charles Road.

Police Chief Rick Willing said the manager was arriving to open the store when a masked man grabbed a bank bag containing $500 cash.

The suspect fled south on foot toward the apartments on Gundersen Drive. The store manager wasn't injured.

Witnesses told police they saw the man loitering in the area before the robbery.

"It certainly seems like the suspect knew the manager would be there at that time and would have money in the bag," Willing said. "This was really just a snatch-and-grab incident."

The robber is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a black waist-length coat and a black ski mask.

A canine unit from the Warrenville police department assisted in the search.
