Larkin High School

• On Tuesday, the student-run Blue Denim Diner will serve chicken breast with peanut sauce, stir-fried vegetables, fried rice, and pineapple cake, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. in room D-74 at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin. Carry-outs are available at (847) 888-5200, ext. 5238. The cost is $4.

• On Thursday, Blue Denim Diner will serve fruit ambrosia, Mexican tortilla Pizza, Mexican rice and margarita pie.

Streamwood High

• On Tuesday, Curriculum Night for incoming freshmen and their parents begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Streamwood High School commons, 701 W. Schaumburg Road.

Eastview

• Today, a show called "Playing with the Paranormal" will be presented by staff member Drew Dianovsky at 7 p.m. in the Eastview Middle School commons, 321 N. Oak St., Bartlett.

This magical entertainment show is for middle school-aged students and older. Tickets are $2 for Eastview students and $3 for all others. Proceeds will help fund new boys and girls basketball uniforms.

Kenyon Woods

• On Wednesday, seventh-grade students will present the second annual Expert Fair from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Kenyon Woods Middle School commons, 1515 Raymond St., South Elgin. Over the past six weeks, students were asked to select a topic and become an "expert" in the subject matter.

Students were responsible for a research paper, a question/answer book, a display board and an oral presentation. They culminated their research by inviting sixth-graders from the feeder schools to view the projects in the morning.

The students' families are invited that evening to celebrate with a pot luck dinner and the opportunity to view the projects.

Tefft

• On Tuesday, the band will present a concert at 7 p.m. in the Tefft Middle School auditorium, 1100 Shirley Ave., Streamwood.

Centennial

• On Friday, Centennial Elementary School will hold Family Bingo Night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the school's multi-purpose room, 234 E. Stearns Road, Bartlett.

Lowrie

• On Thursday, Lowrie Elementary School in Elgin will hold Oscar's Reading Strategy Night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. OSCAR (Our School Cares About Reading) Beaver will present activities and strategies to enhance reading skills.

Ontarioville

• On Thursday, the first- and second-graders will participate in Family Math Game Night at 6:30 p.m. at Ontarioville Elementary School, 2100 Elm St., Hanover Park.

Spring Trail

• On Thursday, the first-graders will present a Multi-cultural Family Feast at 6 p.m. in the Spring Trail Elementary commons, 1384 Spring Valley Drive, Carol Stream.

In other news

• Student artwork from 23 U-46 elementary schools will be on display at First Community Bank starting with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The "Art is Elementary" exhibit will run from Nov. 29 through Jan. 17 at the bank in Tyler Creek Plaza, McLean Boulevard and Big Timber Road in Elgin. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
