Election information online

Lists of candidates, polling place locations and other information about the Feb. 5 primary election can be found at the Lake County clerk's Web site, www.co.lake.il.us/cntyclk. The site also has instructions for voter registration, information about early voting and other important election-related links.

Enter drawings in contest

Parents of Wauconda children are encouraged to enter their children's drawings in the Wauconda Park District holiday coloring contest. Starting Dec. 1, parents can pick up coloring sheets at the park district community center, 600 N. Main St. in Wauconda. Return the colored pictures by Dec. 15 to the same address. Prizes will be awarded in four age groups: 2 to 3 years old, 4 to 5 years old, 6 to 7 years old and 8 to 9 years old. Winners will be notified Dec. 18.

Drop off letters to Santa

Pick up your pens, Wauconda kids, and put together a few words for the big guy in red. This year, you or your parents can drop off letters for Santa Claus from Dec. 1 to 9 at his special mailbox at the Wauconda Park District Community Center, 600 N. Main St. Don't forget to put your name and address in the letter so Santa Claus can write back to you. No postage is required.

Grease Jr. is the word:

"Grease Jr.," the smash hit translation from the Broadway musical, will be performed by the Improv Playhouse Showstoppers at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8, and at 1:30 and 5 p.m. Dec. 9 at Vernon Hills High School, 145 Lakeview Parkway. Seeing the show also supports a good cause -- $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to Rolling Thunder, an organization that publicizes Prisoner of War/Missing in Action issues. Admission is $10 for adults. $7 for students, seniors or military, and free for children ages 3 and under.
