Free parent workshop
Parents are invited to learn about teens and the law during a program at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 sponsored by Glenbard High School District 87. Panelists include DuPage County State's Attorney Joe Birkett, Glendale Heights police officer George Pappas, DuPage County Associate Circuit Court Judge Blanche Fawell, Glenbard East Assistant Principal David Wolfe and Glenbard West High School dean Linda Oberg. More affordable housing
The DuPage Housing Action Coalition and DuPage Homeownership Center will hold its third symposium on a project to increase the supply of affordable homes in DuPage County from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Krasa Center at Benedictine University, 5700 College Road, Lisle. The project, "Homeownership: Benchmark for a Vital Community," involves Realtors, developers, government officials and not-for-profit organizations. The program is free. Renaissance concert
The Naperville North High School Music Department presents its 10th Annual Renaissance Concert at 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday in the school's small cafeteria, 899 N. Mill St. The concert features a combination of Renaissance and winter holiday selections. Joining the singers are two freshman Madrigal Ensembles and a Recorder Ensemble, all choreographed by a court jester. Tickets are $5 if purchased today and then $7. Firefighters collecting toys
Lombard firefighters are collecting new, unwrapped toys for an upcoming parade and toy drive. Toys donated at Lombard's Fire Station 1, 50 E. St. Charles Road, and fire station 2, 2020 S. Highland Ave., will be delivered Dec. 15 to radio personality Dick Biondi's toy drive at Yorktown Center. The parade will start at Main Street and Grove and travel south to Glenbard East High School. Toy donations will be accepted along the parade route and added to the fire truck's load. Biondi will be broadcasting on 94.7 FM at the mall and collecting toys for the Uhlich Children's Advantage Network. A portion of the toys collected by Lombard firefighters will go to the Lombard/Villa Park Food Pantry.
