Principals to read at library
Two area principals will read to children Nov. 29 at the main Cook Memorial Public Library in Libertyville. The events are part of the library's "Principals Read" program. At 7 p.m., On Nov. 29, Hawthorn Elementary South Principal Jill Martin will read her favorite stories to kids. Then at 7:30 p.m., John Powers Center Principal Terri Nilson-Bugella will read her favorite story aloud and using sign language. Laugh at Improv jam
The Improv Playhouse will put on an improv jam at 8 tonight, featuring the Teen Ensemble. Admission to the comedy jam is $5 at the door and $3 for IP students and college students (with ID). Bring a canned food item and receive $1 off admission. The jam will take place at the Improv Playhouse's black box theater at 735 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Libertyville, near Caribou Coffee.
Fox Lake holiday events
Fox Lake will host the 51st Korpan's Christmas Parade at 11 a.m. today. The event starts at Grant High School at the corner of Route 59 and Grand Avenue and head west along Grand to Fox Lake Town Center at the corner of Rollins Road and Grand. From there, the village will hold a children's Christmas party at the village's Lakefront Park at 71 Nippersink Drive. The event will run until 4 p.m. Santa's Christmas Cottage will open on Dec. 1 and run on weekends through Dec. 23. The hours are 6 to 8 p.m. on Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, check out www.foxlake.org.
