Lake Zurich

Coach: Dan Strickler (15th season)

Last year's record: fourth in NSC

Outlook: After breaking almost all of their school wrestling records last year, the Bears will be hard-pressed to duplicate their success from 2006-07. But Lake Zurich should still have a great season with two state qualifiers and a solid nucleus back in action.

Carmel

Coach: Joe Scordino (34th season)

Last year's record: second in ESCC

Outlook: After breaking the school record with four state qualifiers last year, the Corsairs return with high hopes this winter. Two returning state qualifiers and a lot of experienced wrestlers should give Carmel a shot at closing in on perennial state power Marist in the ESCC.

Round Lake

Coach: John Jobst (ninth season)

Last year's record: sixth in NSC

Outlook: After posting a stellar 17-4 record in 2006-07 and placing second in the Prairie Division, the Panthers will have some rebuilding to do, but they should still be very solid with a good nucleus of senior wrestlers returning.

Libertyville

Coach: Dale Eggert (21st season)

Outlook: The Wildcats will once again face a lot of tough competition in the conference meet against Grant, Warren, and Lake Zurich, and they should be ready to contend for the Lake Division title in a very close battle reminiscent of last season.

Grant

Outlook: After being eliminated in the Elite Eight quarterfinals by eventual state runner-up Montini, the Bulldogs are once again considered the team to beat in Lake County and the NSC.

Mundelein

Outlook: With an experienced group of seniors in the fold for the 2007-08 season, the Mustangs hope to be much more competitive in the always powerful NSC.

Lakes

Outlook: The Eagles will have a difficult time replacing graduated Tyler Hall at 285, but coach Onstad hopes they can put together as good a season as last year with the growth of many wrestlers over the past year.

Warren

Last year's record: second in NSC, first in Lake Division

Outlook: The loss of three state qualifiers to graduation will make things much more difficult for the Blue Devils this season, but coach Tiffany hopes his squad will be in the running for one of the top three places in the NSC by the end of the year.

Wauconda

Outlook: The Cougars will really miss injured Jihid Abdallah (torn ACL), who won 29 matches as a sophomore. And a lack of depth and experience at the middle weights could prove to be quite a burden this season.

Grayslake Central

Outlook: The Rams will probably have to overcome a lack of overall depth and experience at the varsity level, but they have a standout senior in 2006-07 state qualifier Ryan Lund to provide great leadership.

Grayslake North
