District 53 is ranked in the top 5 percent

Butler School District 53 in Oak Brook earned the Bright A+ Award, ranking it among the top five percent of school districts in the state.

SchoolSearch, a corporate relocation firm, ranks school districts annually based on their academic performance.

The district is among 62 out of 872 school districts in Illinois honored with the award. It is the highest ranking given by SchoolSearch.

To determine ranking, the firm examined 2006 School Report Card data and results on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test.

On the 2007 ISAT, District 53 students averaged a 97.6 percent success rate, the highest among area DuPage elementary schools.

Test scores have been at record levels for the last four years, and this month the district continued to meet Adequate Yearly Progress in accordance with the No Child Left Behind mandate.
