Seniors group meets Wednesday

Young at Heart will meet at noon Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove, 1032 Maple Ave. The event will include lunch, followed by Archie Benfield's presentation, "Shakespeare, My Acting Career and Other Tragedies." The cost is $10 and reservations are required. Young at Heart, a group for senior citizens, meets the second Wednesday of each month. Montini Catholic to hold open house

Montini Catholic High School will hold an open house at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the school, 19W070 16th St., Lombard. Program tickets available Nov. 24

Mark Nichols will perform a holiday puppet show at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Helen M. Plum Memorial Library, 110 W. Maple St., Lombard. Free tickets for Plum Library card holders will be available starting Nov. 24. Remaining tickets will be available to the public starting Dec. 7. Nichols has performed at Ravinia, the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Taste of Chicago and with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Grove Players seek actors for comedy

The Grove Players will hold auditions for the contemporary British comedy "How the Other Half Loves" from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 26-27 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1125 Franklin Ave., Downers Grove. Parts are available for three men and three women, ages 25 to 50. Auditions will include a cold reading from the script. Actors also may prepare a one-minute monologue, preferably from another British comedy. Performances will be Fridays through Sundays, Feb. 8 to 17. For more information, visit www.groveplayers.org.

Jazz band's holiday CD now available

The Elmhurst College Jazz Band's new holiday CD, "Christmas Time is Here" now is available. The CD includes familiar holiday standards, such as "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Let It Snow." It may be purchased at the college in Irion Hall, 190 Prospect Ave., or ordered via e-mail from ecjazzchristmas@elmhurst.edu. The jazz band is directed by two-time Grammy award-winner Doug Beach. Join reading club at Plum library

Children in eighth grade and younger can register for the Reading Patch Club at the Helen M. Plum Memorial Library, 110 W. Maple St., Lombard.

Children and parents keep track of reading hours. When a goal is met, participants receive an embroidered patch and a paperback book.
