Scouts to retire flags properly
An Eagle Scout project of a flag retirement ceremony is set for 2 p.m. today at Veteran Acres Park, with entrances off Route 176 and Walkup Road, in Crystal Lake.
The ceremony will include members of the American Legion, Boy Scouts from Troop 158, and other community members.
Community and businesses can donate worn flags for proper retirement at the ceremony. The Eagle Scouts will present a finished wooden collection box they built for the park district for collection of worn flags.
Turkey raffle is set at Amvet post
Amvet Post 245 will conduct a turkey raffle at 2 p.m. today at the Cary Public House, 208 W. Main St.
Proceeds will help sponsor semi-monthly bingo and pizza at the North Chicago Veterans Hospital.
A raffle book costs $40; the holder is guaranteed a turkey.

Library to offer special storytime
Dundee Township Public Library staff will present a special storytime just for preschoolers at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the West Dundee Public Safety Center II, 100 Carrington Ave., at the intersection of Route 72 and Sleepy Hollow Road.
Called "Thanksgiving Storytime," the program is free. However, children must attend with a parent or caregiver.
No registration is required for this preschool program which will include stories, songs and activities -- all with a holiday theme.
