Briefs: Robbery suspect sought

Westmont police are offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a man wanted in connection with a series of armed robberies in southeast DuPage County. The man is described as being between 40 and 50 years old, standing about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He is suspected of robbing a Westmont liquor store Nov. 1 as well as a Burger King in Willowbrook on Oct. 1, a White Hen Pantry in Oakbrook Terrace on Oct. 7 and a Subway restaurant in Darien on Nov. 1. The man also is wanted in connection with the attempted robbery of an Oakbrook Terrace Dunkin' Donuts on Oct. 7, police said. Anyone with information is urged to call Westmont police at (630) 968-2151. Tipsters may remain anonymous and still receive the reward.

DUI campaign in Elmhurst

The Elmhurst Police Department will begin a two-week enforcement campaign Sunday to combat drunken driving. During the period, additional officers will be patrolling major thoroughfares for impaired motorists as well as speeding and seat-belt violators. The additional manpower is made possible through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation. This is the second such enforcement in the past month to be conducted in Elmhurst. During a two-week period beginning Oct. 22, Elmhurst police arrested 12 people for drunken driving.

Park master plan unveiled

The Naperville Park District board has released a draft version of the district's newest open space and recreation master plan. To view the final draft, visit www.napervilleparks.org. Center collects for troops

Whitney Center, which offers chiropractic care, is collecting donations to send to troops overseas at its two locations: 6454 S. College Road, Lisle, and 2712 Forgue Drive, No. 100, Naperville. Items being collected include white tube cotton socks in all sizes; toiletries in zip-locked bags; and DVDs. Those who bring in $20 or more of such items before Dec. 23 will receive an initial free visit valued at $325.
