Local Veterans Day events scheduled
VFW Post 11018 of Bartlett will hold a pasta dinner from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the at the Bartlett Fire Barn, 218 S. Main St. The cost is $8 per person, or $18 for three or more. For more information, call Ed Lacey at (630) 372-2393 or Chuck Yacullo at (630) 372-7521.
Streamwood will hold its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Veterans Memorial area of the village municipal complex on Irving Park Road. The dedication of the new Streamwood Police Station next door will follow with an open house from noon to 4 p.m.
The dedication program will begin at 1:30 p.m. and include performances by Streamwood High School students. Tours of the new facility will be available and refreshments will be served.
Sheriff to provide speakers bureau
The Cook County Sheriff's Speakers Bureau provides speakers to schools, businesses, organizations and community groups in Cook County free of charge.
A program on white-collar crime will be presented by the sheriff's department from 10:30 a.m. to noon today at Schaumburg Township, One Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates.
The program features speakers from all areas of the sheriff's office, who distribute pertinent information and answer questions about law enforcement and public safety, as well as give presentations on the Cook County jail, Cook County courts, senior citizen safety and more.

See 'Cabaret' at Harper College
The Harper College Ensemble Theatre will perform the award-winning "Cabaret" today through Sunday and Nov. 16-18 in the Performing Arts Center. Performances on Friday, Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17 will be held at 8 p.m. Matinees on Sunday and Nov. 18 are at 2 p.m.
Featured songs include, "It Couldn't Please Me More," "Willkommen," "Cabaret" and "The Money Song."

Discuss local youth at meeting Tuesday
The next Committee on Youth meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Schaumburg Township Town Hall, One Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. The meeting will take place in conference room #114 on the lower level.
The meeting will include a session of the Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition for the area. The public is welcome.
The Hanover/Schaumburg Townships Youth Services Planning Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Town Hall. The meeting will take place in conference room #314 on the upper level.

The Hanover Township Mental Health Board will hold a finance committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the administrative conference room of the Hanover Township Building, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett.
