Early morning blaze ravages house in Glendale Heights
Glendale Heights fire officials are investigating an early Wednesday morning blaze that destroyed much of a home, authorities said.
About 7 a.m., Glenside Fire Protection District officials responded to a fire at 57 E. Lincoln Ave. They arrived to find a large amount of smoke coming from a single-family home.
Glenside Fire Chief Don Markowski said the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes, but the house is uninhabitable.
Glendale Heights police Cmdr. Dennis Schar said adults and three young children escaped the house without any injuries. They're residing with family, he said.
The fire started in a second-floor bedroom, Markowski said. Investigators were trying to determine the cause on Wednesday.
Crews from the Bloomingdale and Carol Stream fire departments helped put out the blaze. About 18 fire officials were on the scene.
