Motorcyclist in hospital after Island Lake crash

An emergency helicopter flew an unidentified motorcyclist to the hospital after a crash in Island Lake Friday.

Emergency crews were called to 206 E. State Road (Route 176) at 6:41 p.m. for the report of a car and a motorcycle colliding, Wauconda fire officials said.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in critical condition, officials said.

Fire officials first took the man to Water Tower Park in Island Lake where they cleared a football team playing on the field so the emergency helicopter could land, officials said.

Fire officials asked everyone there to wait in their vehicles while the helicopter landed safely and took the man to the hospital, officials said.

No one else was injured in the crash. Island Lake police are investigating but would not provide any details about the crash late Friday.
