Spanish-language financial aid information offered Nov. 8

Spanish-speaking high school juniors and seniors and their parents are invited to attend a Spanish Language Financial Aid Night at 6:45 p.m. Nov. 8 in the McHenry County College cafeteria, Building B, 8900 U.S. Route 14, Crystal Lake.

The presenter will be Eddie Brambila from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, or ISAC. He will explain, in Spanish, the financial aid options to help pay for college; and help parents understand the process of looking for scholarships or loans.

"Parents of first-generation college students want their children to go to college, and many will do almost anything to help and support them in achieving this goal," Brambila said. "Unfortunately, many parents may not know how to help them."

Brambila and Maria Bucio, also of ISAC, will give an overview of financial aid options to help pay for college and help parents understand the process when looking for scholarships or loans.

"This presentation will be delivered in Spanish, so that the Spanish-speaking parents of these students can better understand the U.S. educational system, and, in particular, the financial aid process," Brambila said.

"This information will help students find out how to afford the education that they need to contribute to their families and our communities."

The program is hosted by MCC and the CollegeZone, powered by Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

Free parking will be available in parking lots B and C. For more information, contact Sonia Reising at (815) 479-7749 or sreising@mchenry.edu.
